At last the media is starting to show war as it really was and not glorifying it. We certainly need to have this day of remembrance for all those young men and women who went away 100 years ago, many thinking it was going to be an adventure.
I hope you’re right, Pauline. But I think there’s quite a bit of simplification going on. All the focus at the moment is on Gallipoli. Terrible though it was, NZ lost many more soldiers on the Western Front, including tow of my great uncles, and two of John’s.
