I do hope all will be well for Thailand. The bombing was awful but your photos are reassuring in that they display the ordinary scenes of daily life which will persist and prevail. Love the pomegranate display and the grilled bananas.

Hello Gallivanta, Perhaps one day I’ll post the photo of the pomegranate vendor in colour – they were the most luscious of reds.

Thanks Pauline, I tried to catch the character of each one of these people. My connections with them was fleeting, of course, but I did appreciate their willingness to serve me despite the difficulty communicating with me. And they were kind to me, something that I appreciate more and more, especially when I’m in a foreign country.

I think kindness is catching Jill, even without a common language you can sense when a person is kind and to be trusted.

As soon as I heard this news, I thought of you and your travels and the stories you have shared. Years ago, this would just be sad news. Today, I feel closer and I feel this sadness a little deeper. Thanks for sharing these photos again Jill.

Such a vibrant city. Such a gorgeous country. This tragedy isn’t only theirs but, like any senseless violence (and when is violence *not* senseless?), belong to the world.
